To apply for membership in the Idaho Association of Public Accountants, applicants must meet at least one of the qualifications listed below for either
(1)
Active Membership
(2)
Associate Membership
(3)
Student Membership
(4)
Retired/Special/Honorary Membership.
Active Membership Qualifications:
Persons meeting one of the following requirements shall be eligible for Active Membership:
Those who possess a valid permit as a Licensed Public Accountant or Certified Public Accountant for the practice of public accountancy.
Have had not less than three years of public accounting experience as a principal in the practice of public accounting.
Hold a bachelors degree in accounting and one year public accounting experience, or persons with a two-year degree in accounting and two years experience in public accounting.
Enrolled Agents with two years experience in public accounting.
Persons who are employees of active Association members and have at least three years experience in public accounting.
*Other persons are deemed qualified by the Board of Directors and/or approved by majority vote of the Board*
Associate Membership Qualifications:
Persons who qualify in any one of the following categories shall be eligible for Associate Membership:
Educators
Accountants in governmental services
Accountants employed by private organizations
Officers and employee accountants of banks and other financial institutions
Individuals who do not qualify as Active Members but who meet all of the following conditions:
Have had not less than three years of experience in the above described occupations
Hold themselves as providing accounting and/or tax preparation services to the general public
Maintain an office to provide accounting services for the general public
Student Membership Qualifications:
Persons meeting one of the following requirements shall be eligible for Student Membership:
(1)
Seniors in high school, or
(2)
College students majoring in accounting who do not qualify as active or associate members
Special/Retired/Honorary Membership:
At the discretion of the Board of Directors membership may be issued for Special, Retired or Honorary Membership.
Note: Only Active Members shall be eligible to vote, hold office, and receive seminar discounts. Associate, Student Member, Special or Honorary Members shall have all the privileges of active members except those of voting and holding office and except as otherwise expressly limited to Active Members by the Idaho Association of Public Accountants' bylaws.
